Player of the Week: Natalie Williams | |
With ABL playoff races heating up, Portland's Natalie Williams led the Power to two wins last week, including a 66-64 win over then-first-place Long Beach, thus winning her third Player of the Week honor of the season. Williams averaged 25.0 points and 19.5 rebounds while shooting .690 percent from the field.
Against Long Beach on Thursday, she scored 23 points, grabbed 21 rebounds and hit 8-of-12 shots (.667). On Friday vs. Colorado, she poured in 27 points and snagged 18 boards to go with 10-of-14 FG shooting. Her two free throws with 35 seconds remaining sealed the win. Williams also had 2.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game last week. Williams joins Atlanta's Teresa Edwards as the only ABL Players to win three Player of the Week honors in a season (Edwards did it last year). Williams ranks a close second (21.44 to 21.42 ppg) in league scoring and ranks second in rebounding (11.3 rpg).
